Our Services
Traditionally, most gynecologic surgeries were performed in the hospital operating room requiring a hospital stay and copay. With advancing technology most of these cases can now be safely done in the office with minimal discomfort. With advances in laparoscopic equipment, if hospital surgery is indicated, most gynecologic surgery can be performed through tiny incisions so that postoperative discomfort is minimized and hospital stays limited to the same day of the surgery.
Office Surgery
Most surgical procedures can be performed in the office setting. Diagnosis and treatment of abnormal bleeding with hysterectomy, endometrial sampling and polypectomy are now performed with little discomfort and without a hospital copay. Treatment of cervical dysplasia is now completed with an office colposcopy and cone biopsy.
Minimally Invasive Surgery
Many surgeries that were once done through large incisions in the abdomen and now performed with a laparoscopic approach. Laparoscopic surgery, commonly referred to as “bandaid surgery”, is done through tiny incisions using a fiberoptic camera. The huge benefit is less postoperative pain and a more rapid recovery to full activity.
Vaginal Reconstruction
Because of vaginal deliveries and the onset of menopause many women experience the pain and pressure of relaxation of pelvic support. Although physical therapy can ameliorate some of these symptoms, some women need surgical correction. With these surgeries pain is less than with other surgeries and recovery to full function is more rapid.
Hysterectomy
When symptoms of pelvic abnormalities becomes too severe for conservative treatment, sometimes an hysterectomy is necessary. In most cases this can be done through tiny incisions using a laparoscope or through the vagina. With these techniques postoperative pain is less and recovery to full function is faster.
Myomectomy
As fibroids enlarge they can cause heavy periods and pelvic and back pain and pressure. Fibroids can be removed without an hysterectomy, leaving full function for the women who desires to keep her uterus.
NovaSure® Endometrial Ablation
In the past, the only option a woman had if she failed medical treatment for heavy vaginal bleeding was an hysterectomy. Now, with NovaSure® Endometrial Ablation, heavy bleeding can be treated without removing the uterus, and in many circumstances, in the office.
